London is home to many music festivals throughout the summer. Whether you’re a country, hip-hop, or rock music fan, there is a music festival for everyone.
The festival season kicks off over the Canada day weekend with the Trackside Music Festival in the Western Fair District. The Trackside Music Fest is 2-days of jam-packed fun featuring performances from the top country music stars.
During the first week of July, Sunfest takes place which is the second largest music and jazz festival in Canada. In mid-July, the Rock the Park Music Festival features popular classic rock, country, and hip-hop artists. Held in Harris Park, this event features food trucks, food vendors, and optional VIP access. It further supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of London, Ontario.
The Home County Music Festival is London’s longest-running festival. It is considered one of the top 100 music festivals in Ontario. Traditionally a folk-fest, this event now features an array of musicians and artists with 6 stages and over 30 different food vendors.
In August, the London Bluesfest features blues and rock artists over a 3-day period. Bluesfest further includes a variety of craft beer and food vendors.
Take the Family to the Kids Expo and Children’s Festival
In mid-July, the Kids Expo and Children’s Festival draws many families and their kids for 3 days of fun family-friendly activities. The festival has been running for over 25 years, and it is based in Victoria Park in downtown London. Admission is free, but you will have to pay for rides and some activities within the expo.
Grab Dinner at the London Ribfest
Indulge in ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and craft beer at the London Ribfest in August. Other vendors include beavertails and the classic Canadian poutine. Rib vendors serve up their bbq sauces with the goal to win “Best Ribber.” The event, also, has rides, and live music.
Get Artsy at The Fringe Festival
The Fringe Festival features music, theatre, film, poetry reading, and storytelling in different venues throughout London. The festival takes place from May to June. Tickets and schedules can be found on their website at https://londonfringe.ca/.
Take a Jump Back in Time at the Oxford Renaissance Festival
If you are a history buff, the Oxford Renaissance Festival brings you back to the medieval era. Taking place at the end of June, the event includes jousting, vendors, live shows, comedy performances, and magic shows.
