With events starting as early as the end of November and lasting until the New Year, there’s plenty to take part in this holiday season in London, Ontario.

The epitome of Christmas cheer, holiday lights and decorations fill us with joy and excitement. An excellent family-friendly activity, here are some of the most popular light shows in the city of London. 

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

The 21st annual CP Holiday Train travels across Canada and the US, starting in Montreal. The Holiday Train aims to raise awareness, funds, and food for the food banks and hunger issues. The US train travels through London during its tour. The train is over 1,000 feet, and the 14 cars are beautifully decorated with hundreds of thousands of lights. It is free to attend, but donations to local food banks will be accepted and appreciated at each stop the train makes on its tour. Visitors can see the train at Richmond Street railway crossing between Oxford and Central on Friday, November 29, starting at 8:15 PM, the show runs from 8:30 PM – 9:00 PM.

Winter Wonderland

Located in beautiful Victoria Park in the heart of downtown London, over 75,000 lights turn the park into an enchanted Christmas experience for the whole family. Free to attend, the lights will be on nightly from November 30th to December 30th. 

Visitors are welcome to view the lights from the 12th floor of City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue, on select evenings. 

Argyle BIA Santa Claus Parade 2019

On December 7th, bring the whole family down to Home Depot (Dundas St & Parsons St) to McMaster Auto Body (Dundas St. & Hale St) to see the annual Argyle BIA Santa Claus Parade. It begins at 11 AM and is free to attend. 

Christmas Markets in London, Ontario

Christmas markets are a fantastic way to get unique and special Christmas gifts while supporting local businesses in the London community. Here are a few that are going on over the next two months. 

Whimsical Winter Market

The Whimsical Winter Market, located at Covent Garden Market, 130 King Street, is being held on November 23rd from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It’s full of local vendors, perfect for those who like to get their Christmas shopping done early and wish to support local businesses. It’s free to attend and is ideal for all ages. 

The Garden Club of London Annual Christmas Boutique

The London Annual Christmas Boutique is a favourite among locals in the city. Taking place at the Civic Garden Complex at 625 Springbank Dr. from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on November 23rd, this market is the place to get unique gifts, home decor items, specially made dried herbs, jams and vinegar, and so much more. 

London Christmas Craft Festival

The 40th annual London Christmas Craft Festival is made up of over 200 local vendors from all over Ontario and Quebec. The festival runs from November 28th to December 1st with the following hours: Thursday 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. There is free parking available, and admission costs $7 per person, kids under 12 are free. 

Punk Rock Flea Market London: Holiday Edition

The Punk Rock Flea Market is being held on December 1 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Held at 216 York St in London, it’s free to attend and is suitable for all ages. Avoid the malls to finish up your shopping and help support local business. 

The Christmas Merry Makers Fair

The Christmas Merry Makers Fair is held at the Covent Garden Market – Mezzanine Level, 130 King Street, and runs December 15th from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This fair boasts some excellent vendors and the best of market shopping. From handmade art, clothing, jewelry, home decor, bath, and beauty products, you can find everything you’re looking for here. Admission is free for all ages.

Christmas Workshops in London, Ontario

Whether you are looking for something fun to do with a group of friends or would love to learn how to make your own Christmas decor, here are just a few Christmas themed workshops happening in London, Ontario this holiday season.

The West London Alliance Church is hosting the family-friendly Christmas event for $10/family.
